Kick Off Meeting in Bologna
Pawsitive Impact: Solidarity Tourism and Animal Therapy Project
The Pawsitive Impact project officially commenced with a kick-off meeting held in Bologna on 25–26 October 2025. The meeting was hosted by our Italian partner, Igor Vitale, and coordinated by Edupals, Germany, the project coordinator, in collaboration with our Greek partner, Mykonos International Initiative.
During the first day, project partners came together to initiate the implementation phase, aligning on objectives, defining roles, and planning upcoming activities. This session marked a strong start to the collaborative work ahead.
The second day focused on a workshop titled “Animal Assisted Therapy: A Symbiotic Healing Space – Transferability in Solidarity Tourism.” The workshop explored the integration of animal-assisted therapy within sustainable and socially responsible tourism practices.
As part of the programme, participants also visited Mačja Preja, a small animal rescue and cat shelter located near the Italian-Slovenian border in Koper. The visit provided valuable insights into their operational model, particularly regarding animal care and the interaction between cats and visitors.
Over the next two years, the project aims to:
-Develop a practical handbook for trainers and professionals
-Create a digital training pathway to support the ethical integration of Animal Assisted Therapy into tourism
-Design an AI-based matching system to connect individuals with animals for adoption or therapeutic engagement
Reflecting on the progress made since October, the partnership is confident that Pawsitive Impact will generate meaningful and innovative outcomes, benefiting both communities and animals alike.
